In 1998, several people with disabilities, advocates, and disability lawyers convened to plan for the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in L.C. and E.W.v. Olmstead . The group developed strategies for implementing the Olmstead decision in Georgia. This group became known as the Disability Law and Policy Network (the Network).

Out of the network grew the Disability Law and Policy Center of Georgia, Inc. -- a separate legal entity with dedicated staff and resources to focus on accomplishing the mission of facilitating community living and independence for a significant number of Georgians with disabilities by focusing on systemic issues.
